A new breed of hero is unleashed as DreamWorks Animation brings Dog Man to the big screen. Part dog, part man, all legend. Enjoy the trailer!
DreamWorks Animation, the studio that created Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, and The Boss Baby, comes with a new comedy-action heroᅳhalf dog, half man, all hero. Dog Man, based on Dav Pilkey's best-selling children's series, is ready to bring laughter, thrilling action, and a great fun family experience to everyone worldwide.
The events of the film unfold around Dog Man, who was created by the police dog and an officer during the surgery as a result of a critical car crash. The end product is a crime-fighting superhero who is as faithful as he is brave - willing and ready to guard, uphold the law, and always in the right to follow a scent or a flashy toy. But for Dog Man, the most challenging test is to win the heart of his tough Chief (Lil Rel Howery of Get Out and Free Guy), with whom he has always struggled while doing his bit to stop the naughty deeds of the feline villain Petey the Cat (Pete Davidson, Saturday Night Live).
The tension rises further when Petey makes a clone—Lil Petey, to assist him in his evil deeds. Although Petey becomes the new foster parent of the pound, Lil Petey befriends Dog Man, and the story unfolds in adventure, full of action, comedy, and emotions. Finally, misunderstandings bring enemies of Dog Man and Petey together, and, despite their differences, they unite and manage to save the life of Lil Petey, the brother of Petey.
The star-studded voice cast also includes Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers) as Sarah Hatoff, a determined TV reporter; Poppy Liu (Hacks) as Petey’s assistant, Butler; Emmy nominee Stephen Root (Barry) as Grampa; Billy Boyd (The Lord of the Rings) as cameraman Seamus; and comedian Ricky Gervais (The Office) as the sinister Flippy, the fish.
The film is directed by Emmy-winning Peter Hastings, who has worked on iconic animated shows like Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain, and produced by Karen Foster (How to Train Your Dragon). With a team of talented creatives, DreamWorks promises an animated spectacle filled with laughs and heartwarming moments.
Dog Man is the first series conceived by author and illustrator Dav Pilkey and was first published in 2016; with over 60 million books sold, the series has been translated into 47 languages. New characters and a milk delivery man setting were introduced in 2020, with Cat Kid Comic Club taking place in the Dog Man franchise. Pilkey’s latest installment, Dog Man: Big Jim Begins, is planned for December 2024.
DreamWorks Animation’s Dog Man is set to hit theaters soon, distributed by Universal Pictures, and promises to be a must-watch for fans of all ages. Don’t miss the chance to join Dog Man on his heroic (and occasionally hilarious) adventures!
