NVIDIA team has developed a new way of transforming 2D images into 3D scenes in just a few seconds with the power of AI. They call it NeRF, a neutral rendering model that renders in high resolution.
75 years ago, the Polaroid camera was a groundbreaking technology that could capture a 3D world into a realistic 2D photo. Now, NVIDIA reversed this process, by turning a collection of still images into a digital 3D scene in a matter of seconds.
“If traditional 3D representations like polygonal meshes are akin to vector images, NeRFs are like bitmap images: they densely capture the way light radiates from an object or within a scene,” says David Luebke, vice president for graphics research at NVIDIA.
